Sad news...

It is with regret we announce that Freewheelin' has come to the end of it's journey:

We are sad to say the High Wycombe shop on Castle Street will not be re-opening it's doors.

Like many other struggling retail businesses we could not continue in the current climate and apologise to any customers caught unawares by this development.

Big thanks to all our friends, clients, customers, reps, staff and locals who'd drop in to say hi over the many years of trading, fixing, advising and above all else riding!

May Freewheelin' live long in your hearts & minds... Cheers everyone x

Winners Time!

Well it's been a busy few months at Freewheelin HQ and it's getting busier, with phase 2 of updating the shop soon to take place. More on that soon. Meantime Summer's here, time to get riding!

The Tour de France has just finished it's 2 week tour and you may have possibly heard our very own Bradley Wiggins took a historic first place!! GB's whole team did an incredible job: get over to team sky.com to read interviews, see photos and watch vids all about it.

And now the Olympic Games are kicking off, hopefully inspiring even more of us Brits into sports, particularly cycling: There's categories like Road (120km through Surrey, 4 Royal parks and 6 London Boroughs, with time-trials at Hampton Court), Track (in the awesome new Velodrome), Mountainbike (on the bespoke course at Hadleigh Farm, Essex), and BMX: one of the highlights of Beijing '08.

And just check out the London bmx track!  :-O

Yes we're looking forward to some great wheeled action... Good luck to all our athletes :)

If you're interested in all the events going on, check out the official site of London 2012, and some of it may just be on the telly too, so watch it, get inspired, come down to freewheelin' and get on yer bike!

Woodland Downhill

Here at Freewheelin' we love the multiple purposes of the humble bicycle. The practical, getting to work and keeping fit side, pushing yourself with endurance on the roads, as well as the escapist fun of playing in the woods or skatepark. There's always the right tool for the job, whatever you want to do.

If you're into your downhilling or just want to be inspired by some beautiful footage of tearing it up in the woods, check out this cracking vid...

We're lucky to have great local riding trails in the beech woods surrounding High Wycombe, or you can get the full bikepark experience at places like Aston Hill and Chick Sands, both within half hour of Wycombe. Lucky us.

This time of year is great in the woods; getting muddy is just good for the soul :)
Enjoy the vid.

Slow-mo Scooters

Everyone knows slow-motion makes everything look cool and this short video does the business for scooters.
Ben Searle, the film-maker, normally shoots mountainboard vids (check out his youtube channel) but recently turned his camera toward the scooter riders at his local skatepark for a change...

If you fancy some stunt scooter action, get down to the high street shop and check out the range available and put one (& some accessories, natch) on your Christmas list for Santa. Then head to Wycombe Skatepark and practise like mad! just don't snake the skaters & bmxers... lol

Rad

Nice little freestyle bmx vid... An amateur production from Mexico it just goes to show that with todays technologies anyone can make an amazing vid (with hd digital cameras, editing & post production software) at home on the laptop. But you do need to know at least one awesome rider to get something like this :)
